Upcoming Young Professional Events

We now have a Young Professionals newsletter! To signup for this newsletter aimed specifically at Phi Betes 40 and under, please contact Andrea

Who are we? The Young Professionals Committee is a group of people across Northern California working to plan great events geared towards fellow young professionals in the area. If you’re interested in helping plan events, please reply to Claire. We’re looking forward to planning great events for you in 2020 and beyond!

The person signing up for an event MUST be a member of Phi Beta Kappa, but need not be a member of the Northern California Association (PBKNCA), but it would be nice. You can join now at www.pbknca.org/join. If You Were Initiated To PBK This Year, Or Last Year, Or The Year Before Use This Form To Join The Association For Free.

Trivia & Tacos – San Francisco

JYoung Professionals

Join us for a trivia night at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, March 31 at Old Devil Moon in San Francisco. The event is free but you’re welcome to buy drinks and take advantage of the Taco Tuesday specials. Please RSVP to Claire at claire.a.coleman@gmail.com so we know how many tables to reserve.

Can’t make it this time? That’s ok! We’re planning to attend other trivia nights throughout the year and hope you’ll join us another time.

Monthly Literature and Philosophy Lyceum – Davis, CA
This lyceum is a place to look into the eyes of our fellow peers, to hear their perspectives on topics important to them, to stretch our zones of comfort, and to connect intellectually with others.
To be held on the first Sunday of each month promptly from 4:00–6:00 p.m. starting Sunday, April 5. The location will be on the UC Davis campus. Specific location will be given when available to all who RSVP @ lmbrownlee@ucdavis.eduMore information here.
NightLife – San Francisco

Come explore the great exhibits at the California Academy of Sciences with a drink in your hand! We’re headed to NightLife on Thursday, April 30 at 6:30 p.m. Tickets cost between $13-$20 depending on when you buy your tickets (they do dynamic pricing). Theme to be announced in a few weeks and included in the next newsletter

Awards Luncheon and Annual Meeting – Berkeley

At last May’s luncheon, we distributed five $1,000 Teaching Excellence awards to outstanding professors and twelve $7,500 scholarships to exceptional graduate students. One of these professors and one of these students joined us in February at our Asilomar conference, and their presentations more than justified the awards they received. We hope you can join us Sunday, May 3 at noon, as we present the 2020 awards! The deadline to RSVP is Tuesday, April 19.
